Media release

Udupi, Nov 2: In response to the request by the traditional boat fishermen of the coastal region, the central government has released an additional 30 lakh liters of kerosene oil to the state, said union minister of state Shobha Karandlanje.

The fishermen had raised the issue of kerosene oil allotted to the traditional barge fishing in the coastal districts of the state not being received on time and sought the attention of the central government. They had also demanded that the allotted kerosene oil should be released quickly, thereby safeguarding the interests of the coastal fishermen. Udupi fishermen had submitted a request regarding the same to Shobha Karandlaje.

The Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje brought this request of the coastal fishermen to the notice of the union petroleum Minister and asked him to release the excess kerosene oil to the state of Karnataka as soon as possible and wait for the welfare of the coastal fishermen.

Accordingly, the ministry of petroleum on November 2 issued an order to the state government to release 3000 KL (30.00 Lakh Liters) of additional kerosene oil for the 2022-23 share. Shobha Karandlaje said that the distribution system of the state will provide the kerosene oil obtained for the purpose of fishing.

Karandlaje has thanked prime minister Narendra Modi and union petroleum minister for quickly fulfilling the demand of the coastal fishermen and releasing the kerosene oil needed for inland boat fishing.
