Mangaluru: Elocution Competition held in Neermarga Parish

Mangaluru, Nov 3: Konkani and Kannada Elocution Competition was conducted by Catholic Sabha, Neermarga Unit on 30 th October 2022 in the Church Hall which fostered public speaking skills.

The event commenced with an invocation. Shaila DSouza introduced the judges – Martin DSouza, Vamanjoor, and Jyothi Dias, Angelore. Molly Saldanha then read out the rules given to the participants and the participants were requested to follow the rules and regulations. As many as 30 peppy children and youth participated in the competition. The speeches were delivered with exactness by all the children and were very minutely judged on the criteria- Clarity, intonation, general presentation and expression, content, and fluency.

The valedictory function was presided over by Fr Anil D Mello, parish priest. With a heart full of joy and enthusiasm Molly Saldanha, president-Catholic Sabha, welcomed the gathering. Fr Anil D Mello expressed his deepest sentiments of gratitude and appreciation to the parents of the participants for their constant encouragement in preparing their wards in building positive self-images and the organizers for their initiative in planning and conducting the competition to perfection.

To the participants, he said “ It does not matter that you win or lose, all that matters is the courage to participate. Participation provides you with a platform to challenge yourself. you learn new things and develop various skills after taking up the challenge. Therefore, seize every opportunity
that comes your way through cheerfulness and determination “. It was indeed a thought-provoking address.

This was followed by the announcement of the winners, amidst thunderous applause. Fr Anil DMello and Ravi Saldanha- vice president, of the parish pastoral council presented the winners and all the participants with a certificate and prizes.

Prasad Vas compered the programme. Flavy DSouza proposed the vote of thanks.
