Udupi: 'Divyakala' art exhibition inaugurated at Aditi art gallery

Udupi. Nov 3 : 'Divyakala' art exhibition by American born artist Drdha Vrata Gorrick was unveiled at Aditi Gallery, Kunjibettu, Udupi on Thursday, November 3.

Dr. Sharath Rao, Dean of Kasturba Hospital Manipal inaugurated the exhibition.

“The word food alone is not enough to quench the gastric fire. Every scene we see must be food. This also enables the spiritual progress of the human being,” said Sri Ishapriya Swamiji of Adamaru Math in his blessing.

Dr Kiran Acharya, Aditi Gallery Managing Trustee Astro Mohan, trustee Aditi gallery, artist Drdha Vrata Gorrick were present on the occasion. Vidushi Pratima Acharya proposed the vote of thanks.

Exhibition will remain open on November 4 to 6 between 10 am and 7 pm.

Drdha Vrata Gorrick is an artist born and raised in the US and trained in the traditional arts in South India, bringing the best of both worlds to his creative practice. His work infuses new life into devotional art by combining religious styles from different parts of India while staying within a Vedic tradition.

Drdha believes that the skills we receive are gifts from god and that we can use to elevate our consciousness. He strives to create art that surpasses the mundane and is aided by his extensive training in iconometry, iconography, traditional painting and architectural design, as well as skills in lost-wax casting and clay modeling.

Drdha’s main source of inspiration is the timeless art and architecture that he experienced during his 15 years of travel and study in India.
