Mangalore: District Convention of Disabled Held in City

Mangalore, May 16: Disabled need certain facilities in the society. I second all the demands putforth by the disabled to the government, said Odiyoor Sri Gurudevanda Swamiji.

He was speaking at the district convention organized by District Disabled Development Organization at Don Bosco Hall here on Sunday May 15. The spirit if the disabled is always high, noted the seer.

Suraj Group of Companies chairman Manjunath S Reavankar inaugurated the convention.

Social worker Honnaiah Shettigar and Dr Satish Kumar, who has been providing free medicines to disabled and also is into rural service were honoured on the occasion.

District disabled development officer Puttaswamy presided.

Disabled have demanded reservation in MLC seats, to remove kilometre-limit while issuing bus passes and provision of monthly pension of Rs 10,000 if a family comprises two disabled people among others.
