Warne would Still Dominate Batsmen at Highest Level: Watson

Melbourne, May 20 (IANS): Australian all-rounder Shane Watson feels spin legend Shane Warne's bowling has not deteriorated one bit since his retirement from international cricket four years ago and he would continue to 'dominate' the batsmen at the highest level if he makes an 'unlikely' comeback.

Watson, who is captained by Warne in the Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing Indian Premier League, said it is incredible to see his fellow Australian bowling with the same precision as he used to during his playing days with the Australian team.

"It has been hard for the guys coming in and trying to make their mark on international cricket with the Australian team. The way Warnie is bowling now, he would continue to dominate world cricket," Watson was quoted as saying by The Age.

"It has been mind-blowing for me to see him, after not bowling for a year, be all over batsmen the way he is. It is pretty crazy how someone has got that much skill and hasn't lost that control over something that is so difficult to do. If he ever came out of retirement, which he is not going to do, he would still dominate," said Watson.

Warne looks fitter than ever in the current IPL season and besides being an inspirational captain of the Rajasthan Royals, he has been consistent with the ball.

"He has gone from eating baked beans, margarita pizzas and cheese sandwiches to broadening his horizons a little bit," Watson said on Warne's improved fitness.

Warne plays his last IPL match later Friday when his team takes on the Mumbai Indians.
