Beltangady, May 25: Local MLA, Vasant Bangera, visited the taluk office here on Tuesday May 24, and took the tahsildar and staff of the office for task for poor functioning. The MLA, who was accompanied by several supporters during the visit, said that he had received a number of complaints of disdain being meted out to the general public by the employees, lethargy and negligence in discharging their duties, and menace of middlemen in the office.

A number of people who accompanied Bangera said that the employees of the office put off even minor works unnecessarily, and that they demand bribe. MLA, Keshav Belalu, who had accompanied the MLA, also presented a list of complaints. Block Congress president, Harish Kumar, narrated the bad experience his assistant had at the taluk office.

Tahsildar, M K Pramila, tried to explain about the state of work at the office with the help of facts and figures, number of filed disposed off, etc. The tahsildar asked the people to directly contact her to complain about delaying tactics or demand for bribe if any, at her office. She appealed to them not to entrust their work to middlemen. The MLA also invited important revenue department officials and told them about the nature of complaints received by him against them.
