Puttur: Assistant Cook Held for Stealing at Temple

Puttur, May 26: An assistant cook, who was seen trying to steal money from the donation box of a temple, was caught red-handed on Wednesday May 25. The incident occurred at Karpady Lord Subrahmanya Temple in Aryapu village, where a festival on the occasion of consecration anniversary was being held.

Kishore Yedapaditaya from Narimogeru village was one of the assistant cooks engaged for preparing food for the community feast. He stealthily approached a donation box of the temple located in front of Namaskara Mantap, broke open its lock, and was taking money from the box, when temple priest, Anantaiah Karant, saw him. Karant informed the matter to the temple administrative officer.

On a complaint filed by the temple administrative officer, a case was registered in the rural police station here. Kishore has been taken into custody.
