Kundapur, May 27: A series of thefts in almost eight shops have been reported from Kota, Saligrama on the night of Wednesday, May 25.

Thieves looted silver items weighing almost 500 gms including silver anklets, light-lamps, Kumkum plates etc and 15 gms worth of gold ornaments from Srishti Jewellers near the fish market, Saligrama. The incident came to light when newspaper distributors came to the spot on their morning rounds.

The total value of the stolen items is approximately Rs 45,000 as per the proprietor of Shrishti Jewellers, Jagadish Acharya who has filed a complaint with the Kota police station.

The theives have emptied the cash counter of HP gas centre, Saligrama and taken Rs 10,000.

They have also stolen cash and other items from Ravi General Stores, near Anjaneya Temple, Saligrama; Amar Wines, Kota; Srinidhi Xerox; Harsha Stitchwear; Kavita Hardware; Siddhi Medicals.

ASP Ramnivas Safat, deputy SP Jayant Shetty, Kota ASI Suresh, Brahmavara circle inspector Krishnamurthy have inspected the various spots and are conducting investigations.
