M'lore: MCC Clears Encroachments at Bangrakulur - Kottara Chowki Stretch

Mangalore, May 28: In a demolition drive by Mangalore City Corporation here, an illegally erected structures from Bangrakulur - Kottara Chowki stretch were demolished with the help of JCB on Saturday May 28. The operation demolition drive started at 9.45 am.

 

A total of 14 structures were demolished in this operation. A tunnel which was supposed to be 30-feet-long was only 3 feet after the encroachment by local residents. Meanwhile, MCC commissioner Dr K N Vijayaprakash said that the demolition drive will continue against the illegal encroachments in water tunnels. He said notice have already been issued to the concerned prior to the demolition drive.

Ever year it is a common scene here during rainy season that the area faces the problem of inundation. Under Karnataka Finance Commission, Rs 40 lac have been granted to MCC for the development of water channels.
