Mangalore, May 28: An incident wherein 15-day-old male child was killed by mentally deranged maternal uncle has been reported at Bajal here under Kankanady rural police station limits.
The deceased child has been identified as Mohammed Asif, son of Shakina. Shakina's brother Ansar was mentally deranged and was living with his sister. He killed the child by stabbing with a knife on the head.
Though efforts were made to protect the child by taking the child to the hospital, the child died in the hospital not responding to the treatment.
Ansar has absconded. A case has been registered and police are on the lookout for the accused.
