Udupi: Dist Tennis Tourney Inaugurated at SMS College, Brahmavar

Udupi, May 29: Under the aegis of district Tennis Association and Brahmavar Sports Club, the inter-district tennis tournament was inaugurated at SMS College tennis courts, Brahmavar, here on Saturday May 28.

In his inaugural address, B Suprasad Shetty, managing trustee of Mahishamardini temple, Nilavar, expressed happiness for Brahmavar emerging as significant sports centre in the district.

SMS Education Institution president Ramban G M Scaria presided.

Brahmavar Sports Club founder president Dr Praveen Kumar, SMS College principal K Narayan, SMS Pre-University College principal S Noronha and district Tennis Association president U Damodar among others were present.

The district Tennis Association chief secretary M Chandrashekar Hegde welcomed the gathering.  Brahmavar Sports Club secretary Gregory D’Silva proposed the vote of thanks. Professor R C Bhat compered the programme.

Seventeen teams are competing in the tournament under doubles division, while 21 are competing in singles division.
