Bantwal: Keddalike Govt School Greets New Students in Unique Way

Bantwal, May 31: The new students of Keddalike Government Higher Primary School in Kavalamudoor village, were welcomed by senior students, parents, and local residents, on Monday May 30. 

Keddalike Government Higher Primary School has bagged many awards for imparting quality education and for the community’s involvement in the study mission across Dakshina Kannada district.

Over 30 new students of Class 1 to Class VII gathered along with their parents at an Anganwady located near the school here at 10.00 am on Monday.  Students, members of the school betterment committee, and teachers arrived at the Anganawady.  The new students were greeted and taken tot the school premises in a procession accompanied by traditional music.  The students carried placards about the need of education in alleviating poverty and for nation building.

MLA Ramanath Rai, local people’s representatives, and village elders also participated in the procession.  It relieved the students of the fear and worry of a new school as they were greeted by senior students by sprinkling rose water and jasmine flowers. 

Rai, in his presidential address, said that such programmes are necessary for government schools in order to provide a favourable environment for new students.  Government schools will make their impact when teachers and society collectively joins in educating the children.

School headmaster Ramesh Nayak, in his introductory address, said that the school’s reopening day is celebrated with festivities with the purpose of creating an incentive for the children to join the classes.

TP member B Padmashekar Jain, gram panchayat president Varija, member Yashodar Poojary, school betterment committee vice-president Leela R Bhat, education co-ordinating officer Kamalaksha, teachers Vittal B, Sahasranama, Chandappa Poojary, Lilly D’Souza, and Jalajakshi were present on the occasion.
