Udupi: Inter-District Tennis Tourney Concludes at Brahmavar

Udupi, May 31: The inter-district tennis tournament held under the aegis of the district Tennis Association and Brahmavar Sports Club, concluded at SMS College here on Sunday May 29.

Irshad and Jarveen Suvares bagged the first and second place respectively, in the boys under-18 category. Maaz and Dr Rahul Hegde bagged the first and second place respectively, in the age group of 18-45. Ganesh Pai and Dayakar bagged the first and second place respectively, in the age group of 45 years and above.

Pallavi and Pooja from Kundapur bagged the first place in women’s doubles by defeating Supreeta and Rachana. Dr Pramod and Dr Rahul Hegde bagged the trophy in the final of the doubles in the 18-45 category by defeating Dr Kiran and Dr Praveen Kumar Shetty. Ganesh Pai and Vasant bagged the trophy in men’s over 45 year age group, by defeating Dayakar and Dr Sacchidanand.

SMS College principal Professor K Narayanan presided over the prize distribution programme.

Kundapur Sri Matha Hospital medical director Dr Prakash Tholar, Ameeruddin Bangalore, district Tennis Association president U Damodar, Mangalore A J Hospital sureon Dr Sachin, Mangalore Fr Muller Medical College Hospital’s Dr Habib, and Professor Prabhakar Shetty were present on the occasion.

Brahmavar Sports Club founder president Praveen Kumar Shetty welcomed the gathering. Secretary Gregory D’Silva compered the programme. Chief secretary M Chandrashekar Hegde proposed the vote of thanks.
