Manjeshwar Police Arrest Two - 9,800 Grams of Hemp Seized

Manjeshwar, Jun 1: Manjeshwar police has arrested two for indulging in sale of hemp at Uppala and Manjeshwar surroundings and seized 9,800 gms of Ganja.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Ashraf (32) of Safana Manzil, Kasaba Bazaar, Bunder in Mangalore and Hasainar (38) of Pratapnagar, Uppala. In a massive operation carried out by police in Manjeshwar, Mohammed Ashraf was held at Patwady in Uppala and recovered 1,400 grams of Ganja and on information by Mohammed, Hasainar was taken into custody from his residence. In all 8,600 gms of Ganja was found in his attic.

The duo were all set to sell ganja after procuring it from Idukki. As Mohammed was married to a woman from Hosabettu of Manjeshwar, he became acquainted with Hasainar of Uppala, it is learnt. The illegal business had spread its tentacles up to Mangalore.

The arrested have been remended to judicial custody.
