Puttur: Fearing Family Oppn Married Couple Commit Suicide - Girl Dies, Boy Hospitalized

Puttur, Jun 2: In an unfortunate incident, newly married couple committed suicide consuming poison in a bus near Gundya here on Wednesday Jun 1. While the girl died, the youth is admitted in an ICu of a hospital in Puttur.

The duo have been identified as Bhavya (18) and Yatish. While Bhavya is daughter of Vishwanath Poojary, resident of Chipparakaje near Kasargod and Girija, who was into bidi rolling, Yatish is the son of Suresh Poojary, a resident of Surulimoole near Mangalapadav, Vittal of Bantwal. The duo, who allegedly eloped on May 30 and consequently married were travelling from Sakleshpur to Puttur in a KSRTC bus when they resorted to th extreme step.

It is learnt that the family were unhappy with their relationship and the couple were going strong since past two years. Yatish, who was unable to clear II PUC was working in a petrol bunk in his native, while Bhavya, who was working in a fancy store after SSLC just shifted to a new job at firm manufacturing arecanut plates. 

Though married, the fear to face family members made the couple take the extreme step, it is suspected. FIR is lodged at Nellayadi police outpost and a case registered at Uppinangady police station.
