Puttur: KSRTC Buses Get Grounded, Traffic Interrupted for Two Hours

Puttur, Jun 3:
The state highway in Kallarpe in the Puttur-Sullia stretch is in poor condition. The contractors who undertook the roadwork have strewn soil and jelly stones on the one side of the road, while on the other side they have dug up a deep trench. These two factors have become nightmares for commuters.

On Thursday June 2, two KSRTC buses got stranded in the 200-meter stretch after their tyres got stuck in the damp soil, leading to a traffic snarl that lasted almost two hours.

Neither the contractors nor their labourers came to the spot. Puttur PWD engineers then rushed to the spot and took control of the situation and directed the workers to remove the soil and allow the water to flow freely. Thus, a temporary solution was given.

Though the contractors were given a deadline to complete the stretch between Kumbra to Sampya, the work is still under progress. If a permanent solution is not found soon, more such incidents are likely to occur.
