Karkala, Jan 25: On the third day of annual feast of St Lawrence Minor Basilica Attur, thousands of devotees participated in the prayers and Eucharistic celebrations.
Dr Lawrence Mukhuyi, bishop diocese of Beltangady, celebrated the main Eucharistic celebration of the day. In his homily he said, "Worldly sufferings and difficulties make us weak. But with the grace of the Holy Spirit and by believing in the almighty thoroughly, becoming the witness of Him, we will be blessed."
The number of devotees had increased tremendously on the third day of the feast.
Fr Maxim Noronha, vicar general diocese of Mangalore celebrated the eucharist celebrations at 10 AM.
Fr Alwyn Sequiera, Katkere Fr Thomas Roshan D'Souza, Gangolli Fr Andrew D'Souza, Bondel and Fr Victor D'mello, Paneer celebrated the other eucharistic celebrations of the day.
Former ministers Abhayajandra Jain and Vinay Kumar Sorake visited the shrine and recived the blessings of the St Lawrence.
Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop emeritus, diocese of Mangalore, will preside over the festive Mass on Wednesday, January 25 at 10 am. The Mass will be celebrated in Konkani.
On the fourth day of the festival (Monday to Thursday) Eucharistic celebrations will be held at 8, 10 , 12 in the morning and at 2, 4 and 6, 8 in the afternoon.
