Karkala: Injured Leopard Wanders into Verandah, Taken to Shimoga

Karkala, Jun 5: A leopard was found in a verandah of a house in Vanjarakatte under Bola village here on Saturday June 4. This has been the sixth such incident in the recent times in the area.  

The members of the house found the leopard when they tried to open the front door of the house in the morning. Soon the members informed the neigbours about the leopard and the fearful animal on seeing human beings soon hid itself at the godown of the house, later moving to a banana plantation nearby.

The leopard with a leg injury was found at Raghu Devadiga's residence here. It was taken captive by the local forest department officers and vaccinated as well as provided first aid at the department office.

The animal has been transported to Shimoga for the further treatment.  

The operation was undertaken by staff Babu, Chikka, raghavendra, Honnappa, Anand and Prakash under the direction of forest officer Satish.
