Mangalore/Udupi, Jun 6: The 'alleged atrocity' on Baba Ramdev has drawn huge support of the various like-minded organizations in the twin districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada.

The Patanjali Yoga Samithi, Bharath Swabhiman Trust and Hindu Jana Jagruthi Samithi jointly held ‘Buddhi Vruddhi Shuddhi’ yaga in front of the deputy commissioner's office on Monday June 6.

A sacrificial fire was lit on the occasion to perform ‘Buddhi Vruddhi Shuddhi’ yaga. A priest performed the rituals of ‘yaga’ and recited mantras.

Speaking on the occasion, Hindu union leader Satyajit Suratkal said that Ramdev’s fame had spread across the world and there were plenty of people willing to support him. He added that the UPA government was scared of the yoga exponent’s consistent efforts to root out corruption in the country and despite the government’s rash and brutal actions, the fight would continue.

Former deputy mayor Basheer Bykampady also condemned the detention of Baba Ramdev and said that such actions will only lead to the death of democracy. The attack on the Baba’s camp by the police reminded us of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, he said. The harassment of the non-violent protestors is against the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, he added.

Mohan Gowda, spokesperson of the Hindu Janajagruthui Samithi and its co-ordinator Ramesh Kukkundur among others were present.

Meanwhile a 24-hour demonstration initiated by the district BJP activists is underway in front of the Town Hall. This agitation was started on Sunday June 5 at 6.00 pm with MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and deputy speaker N Yogish Bhat leading the protestors. Minority Welfare Board chairman Anwar Manippady among others participated in the protest on Monday June 6, which will end at 6.00 pm.

Udupi Rallies Behind Ramdev

The district BJP began protest here on Sunday June 5 against UPA government that is reigning in the centre by condemning the force used on Baba Ramdev who was on hunger strike against corruption in the country.

Congress has drawn a plan to transfer the funds from Swiss banks to other banks, because 90% percent of the said belongs to Congress leaders, he alleged.

The emergency rule of 1975 imposed on citizens seems once again implemented. BJP has not been directly involved in struggle, yet will directly support Baba Ramdev's struggle until UPA announces the black money hoarded by Indians in Swiss Banks are national asset, added Uday Kumar Shetty.

Uday Kumar Shetty urged the general public to join in the struggle regardless of caste, creed and religion. The religious heads, traders students of schools and colleges, labour unions, social and voluntary organizations are also urged to participate in the struggle against corrupt by supporting satyagraha of Baba Ramdev.
