'L&T to Help in Bengal's Rebuilding and Reconstruction'

Kolkata, Jun 7 (IANS): Larsen & Toubro chairman A.M. Naik Monday said his company would extend all cooperation for the "rebuilding and reconstruction" of West Bengal.

Talking to reporters after meeting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat, Naik said development of the Sundarbans, Digha and Darjeeling, as also power plants, infrastructure and Ganga beautification figured in their talks, among other issues.

"The company will extend all co-operation for the rebuilding and reconstruction of the state," he said.

Branding the chief minister as a person "with lot of ideas", he said a sense of turnaround was being witnessed in everything in West Bengal under the leadership of Banerjee.

"L&T is no longer a mere private company. It has expanded on all fronts and now wants to participate in the rebuilding of West Bengal," Naik said.

Representatives from his company would meet the chief minister very often to know about the developmental requirements and prepare L&T in that regard, he added.
