China Launches High-speed Train in Brazil

Beijing, Jun 10 (IANS): A China-made high-speed train has been launched for the first time in Brazil, and would be fully operational during the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.

The train manufactured by the Changchun Railway Vehicles Co. Ltd. is made fully of stainless steel and can run at a maximum speed of 100 km per hour, the People's Daily reported.

This is the first time a Chinese high-speed train has successfully entered the South American market, officials said.

Each train comprises four coaches. The train's body strength is reportedly 2.5 times stronger than that of European designs.
