Mangaluru, Mar 5: P Qasim Sahib (67) from Kerala, who built a temple for Koragajja (Daiva) and practiced various rituals daily, including special poojas, for over two decades, passed away due to a heart attack late on Saturday, March 5.
It is reported that he died while being shifted to a hospital in Kolnad.
Despite belonging to a different community, P Qasim Sahib worshipped Koragajja and sent a strong message of communal harmony in the twin districts. He was a symbol of unity among different faiths.
P Qasim Sahib was a resident of Chittalancheri village in Palakkad district, Kerala. Nearly 37 years ago, he came to the district along with his family in search of a job and settled down in Kavatharu in Mulki taluk, which is about 40 km from Mangaluru.
During his hard times, he was advised by a Daiva Patri to worship Koragajja. He worshipped Koragajja, along with Korathi and Durgaparmeshwari, on a small piece of land. Till today, several devotees visit this shrine.
