Bantwal: Murder of Punacha Moidin – Four Arrested

Bantwal, Jun 20: Relating to the murder of a businessman named Moidin Kunhi (50), a native of Mallikatte, Punacha village near Vittal in the taluk at Gaddehalli in Gubbi taluk, Tumkur district on Friday June 17 night, the policemen of C S Pura station have arrested four accused persons. Moidin used to visit Tumkur district often in connection with his business.

The arrested people have been identified as Veerabhadra from Gaddehalli, his wife, Anjali, their friends, Devaraj, and Srinivas, from the same village. Mohammed (50) from Bulerikatte was with Moidin at the time of the murder. He succeeded in running away from the spot. He is being treated in a hospital in Puttur.

C S Pura police have concluded that dispute over monetary transactions was behind the murder. It is also learnt that Veerabhadra was angry at the fact that Moidin used to speak to his wife over mobile phone frequently. After drawing a plan to eliminate Moidin, he extended a telephonic invitation through a lady to Moidin to reach a spot in Gaddehalli on Friday. Moidin visited the village with his friend, Mohammed, when he was bludgeoned by the gang to death.

Moidin is survived by wife, two sons and two daughters. The body was released after post mortem. Funeral was conducted on Sunday.
