Mangalore, Jun 22: The district level inaugural of the campaign, ‘Hallige-Gallige Nadeyiri (walk to villages and lanes)’ launched by the JDS was held in the city on Tuesday June 21. General secretary of the party, Madhu Bangarappa, and former BJP MP and bitter critic of the Chief Minister (CM), Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, participated in the function.

“In the coming days, we will give added thrust to strengthening and reorganizing of our party base in the state. Towards this end, I will be working in close coordination with the party leaders from the coastal districts,” said Madhu Bangarappa. He requested the party leaders from the coast to make best use of his and his father, Bangarappa’s, services.

He said that the Chief Minister as well as the BJP have lost their credibility and trust of the people because of rampant corruption and scams. At the same time, the trustworthiness of the Congress party too has touched its nadir, because of huge scams surfacing with each passing day, he added. “The JDS, which works for the upliftment of poor people, farmers, backward classes and minorities, and stoutly opposes corruption in all forms, has a bright future,” he analyzed.

He noted that many of the BJP leaders had revolted against the CM because of his corrupt administration, and that several members of that party have been secretly encouraging the JDS, by asking the JDS leaders to expose scams of the BJP. “The Chief Minister will never visit Dharmasthala to vouch for his truthfulness. Even if he goes there, he will only confess to his past misdeeds and vow not to repeat them,” Bangarappa opined.

Former union minister and chief general secretary of JDS, Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, initiated the campaign. He also extended a warm welcome to new members like Upendra Nayak, who crossed over to the JDS from United Janatadal, by handing over party flags to them.

President of the minority unit, Shakeel Nawaz, former minister, Amaranath Shetty, Dakshina Kannada district JDS president, M B Sadashiva, state secretary, M G Hegde, and several other leaders were present.
