Puttur, Jun 24: The bail petitions moved by Dr K V Renuka Prasad and Manoj, named as accused in the case of murder of Prof A S Ramakrishna, administrative officer of KVG Medical College here, were rejected by the judge of fast track sessions court here, Shivashankare Gowda, on Thursday June 23.

The bail petitions of these two accused had been taken up in the court on June 17. Bangalore-based lawyer, C H Hanumantharaya, and special public prosecutor, Udayashankar, had placed their arguments in favour of, and against the petitions, respectively. The special public prosecutor had pleaded for the rejection of the petition, citing that Vaman, one of the main accused, has not been arrested. He also expressed apprehension that the accused, if released, might destroy evidences in the case and create problems in the efforts of the policemen to arrest the other accused.

On June 17, the judge had fixed June 22 as the date for the verdict. On Wednesday, the same was postponed by a day. The judge, while rejecting the petition, upheld the objections raised by the special public prosecutor.
