Doha, Mar 26: The newly elected managing committee of Indian Cultural Center (ICC), Qatar, led by A P Manikantan met with Dr Deepak Mittal, India’s Ambassador to Qatar. The agenda was to discuss key performance areas to be considered by ICC over next 2 years. The meeting was held in the Indian Embassy in Doha on March 23.

Manikantan welcomed Dr Mittal and introduced the team. Manikantan spoke about some of the initiatives and events the ICC team would like to undertake in the coming days and sought guidance from Dr Mittal. Each team member talked about how they intend to contribute as an office bearer at ICC in their tenure.

Dr Mittal congratulated Manikantan and the team and spoke about the need to reach out to 800,000 strong Indian diaspora through many cultural and social initiatives. He suggested events to be undertaken towards the blue-collared class, students, and women empowerment. He also proposed activities around India’s initiative 'International Year of Millets 2023'. He underlined the fact that each of the committee member is a social ambassador representing India and needs to act as a social bridge between India and Qatar to strengthen the 50-year strong relationship.

Also present at the meeting were S Xavier Dhanaraj, co-ordinating officer and first secretary at the Indian Embassy, Qatar and ICC’s advisory board led by Satish G Pillai.
