Puttur, Jun 25: Parvati (30), wife of Vachanna Gowda, a resident of Karambu in Panja near Kadaba in the taluk, committed suicide by hanging herself at the home of her elder sister at Kampa in Kaniyoor on Thursday June 23. Parvati was being taken care of at the house of her elder sister, Lalita, wife of Parameshwar Gowda, relating to her recent delivery.

Parvati had given birth to a baby girl some days ago. When Lalita was away from home to attend to some household chores, Parvati hanged herself by making a noose out of the rope used to hang the cradle.

In a police complaint, the family members guessed that Parvati would have chosen to end her life because of health complications she started suffering from, subsequent to surgery she underwent during child birth. Kadaba special tahsildar, Vaidyanath, visited the spot. The police have registered a case and taken up investigation.
