Kasaragod, Mar 30: B Satish, fondly called as ‘Cycle Satish’, who has served as postman on his bicycle for 42 years is all set to retire on March 31, Friday. His colleagues are getting ready to give him a fitting farewell.

Satish, a resident of Koodlu in the district, is one of the representative of Kannadigas in the postal department of the border district. He has not used any other vehicle except a bicycle throughout his service. He served as EDMC at Koodlu post office for 30 years and got promoted as MTS at the central post office of Kasaragod for 12 years.

If Kannadigas arrived at the post office he would give them the required attention and service and is quite popular with the public. He worked during the Covid-19 pandemic also without taking any leave. He also ensured that medical parcels reached people on time. Besides, Satish is actively involved in pro-Kannada activities.

Satish belongs to the royal family of Keladi kingdom of Karnataka. They have been performing pooja of Ashwarooda Parvati Devi in their house from time immemorial. Their house is known as Keladi Rajavamshastha Devaramane.

Satish has also authored a book titled ‘Keladi Raja Kutumbasthara Charithre’.

He was felicitated by Kotekar sub-division of Shringeri Jagadguru Peeta, Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala, Udupi Sri Krishna Math, Shree Kshethra Kukke Subramanya, Edapadavu Sri Hopalakrishna temple, Keladi Kavaledurga Math, Hosanagara Math, Gurupur Jangama Math, Bengaluru Basava Samiti, Kaiga atomic plant and Bhadravati Yuvaka Mandala.

Satish was born in 1963 as the son of Purushottama and Vasanthi couple at his grandmother’s house in Attavar. He completed his primary education at Attavar lower primary school and his bachelors degree from St Aloysius College and post graduation degree at Kerala University.
