Bantwal, Jun 27: The body of Manju (26) from Hassan town was found dumped into a canal leading to River Netravati at Bastipadpu Kanchugarapete here on Sunday June 26.

The Hassan police have arrested three accused relating to the case. However, they have refused to reveal their identities. The local police are also clueless about the identity of the killers.

It is gathered that Manju, who owns a Tempo Trax vehicle, used to hire it for various occasions. The vehicle was owner-driven. His vehicle was found to have been abandoned under the fly over at B C Road in front of Pinto Complex on June 14. The policemen had taken the vehicle into custody, as it was found abandoned without any claimants. At the same time, a missing complaint about the disappearance of Manju had  been registered in Hassan police station, the policemen revealed.

It now transpires that three persons had hired the said vehicle, saying that they were on a urgent to Mangalore. It is learnt that the illicit relationship one of the accused had with the wife of the murdered man was the reason behind the killing.  The policemen said that this man had hired two others to kill Manju, by paying them one lac rupees each for the task.

The policemen from Hassan brought the accused to the town on Sunday. The accused guided the policemen to the spot where they had dumped Manju’s body, after which the body was recovered.  The body was completely decomposed except for the parts covered by his clothes. The head of the body was found to have been ripped apart, because of a strong blow delivered to it.

The body was shifted to a mortuary in Mangalore. The policemen from Hassan had sought cooperation from the local police in this case.
