Kasargod: Robbery of Valuables Worth Rs 35 lac - Culprit Held

Kasargod, Jun 27: Mohammed Rashid (25), a car driver by profession, who has been accused to robbing cash and ornaments worth around Rs 35 lac from the house of Lata Karole, a retired principal residing in Madikeri, has been arrested. The policemen of Hosadurg police station made this arrest.

Rashid, who worked as a car driver for Lata, had threatened her, and robbed cash and ornaments from her home, before fleeing. The policemen said that the accused hid himself at Mangalore and some other places, to avoid getting found out.

He had visited a relative in Kanhangad on Saturday. The intelligence information about his movement was passed on to Joshi Cherian, deputy superintendent of police, Kanhangad. He conveyed the same to the policemen from Madikeri.  Based on this information, the Madikeri policemen, with the help of Hosadurg police, launched and operation and arrested Rashid from Kanhangad. The accused has been handed over to Madikeri police for investigation.
