Mysore: No Private Vehicles on Chamundeshwari Hill

Mysore, Jun 27: For easing traffic congestions found on Fridays during the month of Ashadha, the private vehicles including cars, two and three-wheelers will be banned on the road leading to historically famous Goddess Chamundeshwari Hill road this year.

This was stated by district-in-charge minister, S A Ramdas. The road will be off-limits for private vehicles on July 8, 15, 22 and 29. Even though July 1 also falls on Friday of Ashadha month, it is excluded on account of new moon day, it is learnt. As per the request made by the minister to transport minister, R Ashok, KSRTC has agreed to provide sufficient number of buses on this route.

The minister disclosed that the devotees will be ferried free of cost by KSRTC buses from the base of the hill at Tavarekatte to the temple and back. Two separate areas have been earmarked for parking of vehicles of devotees. He added that the convenience and necessities of devotees including safe drinking water will be properly taken care of by the officials during this period. The temple receives large number of devotees on Fridays during Ashadha month.

    this is not going to solve the problem of traffic congestion. for so much devotees they have to run busses every 5 mins. better option is to make one way traffic. onward with regular route and return via nandi. so that no trafic jams occur.

    free of cost..?? Ashok is confused i guess, with the 7% hike he just proposed, is he really going to give free..??  if yes..it will benefit many devotees from karnataka & arround
