Mangalore, Jul 5:
A combined annual training camp is being organized at Karnataka Polytechnic Mangalore from July 1 to July 10.
 
As many as 350 cadets from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district are participating in this camp. Various activities like weapon training, map reading, drill activities is carried out by the cadets. Among 350 candidates, 50 % are girl cadets. Col Alok Parmar commanding officer, 18 ktk NCC battalion, Mangalore is heading the camp.

There was an awareness jatha carried out from KPT in which cadets displayed messages like ‘say no to drugs’, 'save girl child' etc.
 
Since it is not possible to train the NCC cadets at the institutions, annual training camps are being held wherein all the activities of social service like blood donation, bringing civic awareness will also be held.
 
The cadets will lead a camp life where they are exposed to basic military training, weapon training, physical training and obstacle training.

This annual camp help the cadets get a, b and c-certificates, which is a gateway for new avenues specifically in professional colleges.
 
There will be series of speeches by army recruitment officers in coming days. On July 8 there will be a blood donation camp. A delegation from Bangalore will arrive and disaster management demonstration will be held. On July 9 there will be a prize distribution programme. The camp will conclude on July 10.
