Mangalore: Sporadic Rainfall in Twin-districts

Mangalore, Jul 12: Dakshina Kannada district received normal rains on Monday July 11, with sunshine in between spells of rain. The rainfall was markedly less in Sullia taluk, which used to get more rainfall than other regions of the district till now.

Udupi and Karkala taluks received heavy rains since Sunday night. By Monday evening, the intensity of rain came down. In contrast, rain was less in Kundapur taluk. Honnavar in Uttara Kannada district and Agumbe in Shimoga district received the highest rainfall of eight cms each.

The average rainfall in the coast was five cms. The meteorological department has predicted rain in most places on the coast, some places of southern hinterland, and a couple of places in northern hinterland during the period till Wednesday morning. It has asked the fishermen to exercise caution, as it expects wind to blow over the sea at a speed of 45 to 55 kms per hour.
