Mangalore: Mescom Money Robbed – Two Held for Questioning

Mangalore, Jul 12: A police complaint was filed at Suratkal police station on the night of Sunday July 10, by a private firm operating the bill collecting system at the bill collection centre of Mangalore Electric Supply Company (Mescom) on Bajpe Road Suratkal. In the complaint, an employee of the firm, who was posted to look after the system, said that two persons wearing helmets, who came in a motor bike, tied her up, and robbed about Rs 1,35,000 on Sunday evening.

The company, which works on commission basis as per an arrangement entered into with Mescom, has to remit the amount collected along with bills, to Mescom. The collection centre had good amount, as bills paid on Friday were not remitted the next day as it was second Saturday, and it also had bills paid by consumers on Saturday and Sunday.

Based on the complaint of a lady named Poornima, an employee of the firm, the Suratkal police took into custody two persons for questioning on the basis of suspicion, it is learnt.
