Tumkur, Jul 14: Three policemen died after the police jeep in which they were travelling hit a parked truck from behind near Sira in the district. The accident occurred on Wednesday July 13.
The deceased have been identified as Basavaraju B Hallur (55), a senior police officer belonging to Koppal district unit of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), Satyanarayan (38), police constable, and S M Kataragi (42), driver of the jeep.
Basavaraju was serving as the deputy commandant of Indian Reserve Battalion of KSRP. He was moving to Bangalore in the department’s jeep, when accident occurred. He was from Bhagawati village in B Hallur in Bagalokot. Katargi was from Hospet, is is gathered.
