Udupi, Jul 15: “Rural Development and Self Employment Training (RUDSET) Institute has been involved in helping unemployed youth to explore self-employment opportunities by developing their self-confidence to begin small businesses,” said MLA Raghupati Bhat.

He was speaking after inaugurating the newly-built building of RUDSET at Heroor, near here, on Thursday July 14.

“Farming has great potential in the coastal district.  It’s due to lack of self-confidence and inferiority complex that youth in the rural area are fleeing their native villages for greener pastures in cities and towns,” said MLA Raghupati Bhat.

“The governments have introduced many programmes for rural development without success.  Dr D Veerendra Heggade, the brain behind the success of RUDSET, deserves the Bharat Ratna for boosting the self-confidence of rural unemployed youth by training them in entrepreneurial skills,” added Bhat.
ZP president K Shankar Poojary said that the farming sector, which is losing sheen, can emerge as a profitable venture through the Kutumbashree programme by forming self-help-groups. He urged RUDSET authorities to extend the programme to the rest of the state.

ZP member Mallika B Poojary, TP member Veronica Cornelio, Chantaru gram panchayat president Jayanti Vasudev, Bharatiya Vikas Trust managing trustee K M Udupa, Syndicate Bank Udupi regional office general managing G P Christopher Devaraj, Canara Bank Mangalore circle office deputy general manager Dasayya, and RUDSET Institute chief executive officer Ganesh Hegde were chief guests on the occasion.

RUDSET Institute Ujire central office CEO K N Janardhan welcomed the gathering. Director Amaranath Hegde proposed the vote of thanks.  RUDSET Brahmavar lecturer Karunakar Jain K compered the programme.

Mahesh Kumar, Mukta Srinivas, and Shakila Hegde, who are running successful small scale enterprises after their training from RUDSET, shared their experiences.
