Mangaluru: Car rams into bike and flees, rider dies in hospital

Mangaluru, June 12: In a tragic hit and run case, an Innova car rammed into a bike and fled from the scene here. Thejas Kulal (28), resident of Modoor Vaidyanatha temple road, Kotekar town limits who was riding the two-wheeler, was seriously injured in the accident. He died at a private hospital in the city without responding to treatment.

Thejas was riding towards a petrol bunk at Sankoli to get a petrol refill for his bike on June 4 late in the night when the Innova car bearing Kerala state registration number fled the scene after hitting the bike.

Mangaluru south traffic police who had registered a hit and run case, had taken the car into custody the next day on the basis of CCTV footage recorded at Talapady toll gate.

The injured Thejas was initially admitted to a private hospital in Deralakatte where he was in coma and shifted later to KMC Hospital, Mangaluru for further treatment. But he died without responding to treatment on Monday, June 12.

Thejas, who was unmarried, was working as a mechanic at the Suzuki Company.  He was an activist of Bhajrang Dal, Madoor branch. He is survived by his father Rama Kulal, mother Revathi and brother Ravindra.
