Udupi: Lady’s Handbag with Belongings Worth Lac Stolen

Udupi, Jul 20: A lady who visited the Manipal Hospital here was robbed of her handbag which had in it gold ornaments and belongings worth Rs 1, 83,000.

Indrali resident Girish D Rao’s mother had gone to the hospital on Monday July 18. Around 2.30 pm she kept her handbag aside as she had to check her weight in the weighing machine.  At this moment, the bag was stolen.

The bag contained Rs 13,500, gold necklace, bracelet, and ring among other costly things. A complaint has been lodged regarding the robbery at Manipal police station.

    If I can recollect I have a similar type of incident in the same hospital where a pregnant lady was relieved of her belongings! Looks like a gang is operating in the premises. Patients should take care not to wear or carry any valuable items when visiting hospitals for checkups, etc., these places too are not safe, being infested with criminal elements!!
