Bangalore, Jul 24: The mining report, once it is on record, will be studied and a report will be sent to President Pratibha Patil, said Karnataka governor H R Bhardwaj on Sunday July 24.
Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde had earlier said that he would be submitting his report on illegal mining in the state only to the government and not to the governor. Bhardwaj on Sunday clarified that he has not asked Hegde to give him the report, but if the latter chooses, he will definitely be a competent authority to 'deal with the government'.
The mining report, which was leaked to the media last week, indicts influential names including chief minister Yeddyurappa, Bellary mining barons the Reddy brothers, two other BJP mininsters and also JD(S) chief H D Kumaraswamy apart from some Congress leaders. Justice Hegde has recommended a probe against all of them in the report.
Bhardwaj further said that so far there has been no request from any corner to recommend President's rule in the state in case the mining report creates political storm once it is officially tabled.
He also asserted that the report he would submit to the President would not be leaked under any circumstance.
He also hoped that the Supreme Court would take appropriate action on the matter.
