Kundapur, Aug 2: "The silence of the prime minister and the union home minister about the brutal rape and parade of women in the nude at Manipur 93 days ago has made the country bow its head," alleged Kundapur block Congress president Kanmakki Hariprasad Shetty. He addressed protests by the Congress party held at Kundapur Shastri Circle on Wednesday morning. "The BJP is exploiting the racial unrest in Manipur for its political gain. Modi remains quiet during the parliament session," he added.

Malyadi Shivarama Shetty said that it is shocking that the BJP government at the center is attempting to topple the democratic setup. "The Congress party will continue its campaign until the tribal community of Manipur gets justice," he emphasized. Vikas Hegde said that the BJP continues its policy of dictatorship in Manipur, expressing concern over the safety of women in the country. "The slogan of Modi's 'Bheti Bachao, Bheti Padhao' is only for Modi's speeches," he stated.

Kishan Hegde Kolkebail pointed out that there is no social freedom in the country. "If the condition of a soldier's wife is to be gang-raped in the open like this, what will be the condition of ordinary people? India, which was once a garden of peace for all religions, is now suffering from unrest," he lamented. The protesters shouted slogans assuring their support for the women in Manipur throughout the demonstration.
