Kasargod: ICYM Ukkinadka unit holds Onam celebration

Kasargod, Aug 27: ICYM Ukkinadka unit on the occasion of state festival organized ‘Onam 2k23’ Onam celebration on August 27 at the church ground.

Onam celebration began with the formal programme. Fr Sunil Miranda - parish priest, Joyal Monteiro - president of parish council, Sarini Crasta - secretary of parish council, Jasmitha Monteiro - president of ICYM Kasargod deanery, Juvana Mariya - president of ICYM Ukkinadka unit, Joyston D’Souza - secretary of ICYM Ukkinadka unit, and all the gurkars (ward members) were the dignitaries on the dais.

 

Vishitha D’Souza hosted the formal programme. Juvana Mariya welcomed everyone florally. Fr Sunil Miranda along with other dignitaries inaugurated the programme by watering the plant. Fr Sunil Miranda, parish priest addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of Onam celebration. ‘Thiruvathirakali’, a folk dance of Kerala was played by ICYM and YCS members after the formal programme.

Inter ward tug of war, break the pot, musical chair, passing the vegetable etc games were conducted for the gathering. Concluding ceremony was held after the games. Fr Wilson Lobo was the chief guest for the concluding ceremony. He gave a short message about the Onam celebration. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the games that were conducted. Joyston D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks.

After the concluding ceremony ‘Onam Sadhya’ (Onam meal) was served to the gathering.
