Udupi: Youth loses Rs 27951 by sharing UPI details

Udupi, Aug 31: A youth was conned Rs 27951 by an online fraudster. A case in this connection is filed at Manipal police station.

Helly Panchal (20), is the youth who was defrauded by the online fraudster. Panchal ordered food on Swiggy app on August 30 at around 12.05 pm and paid Rs 358 via UPI. Later, he cancelled the order. However, Swiggy customer care said that they will not return the money to the consumer.

A little later, Panchal got call from 8067466791 and the person introduced himself as Swiggy customer care representative. He said that victim Panchal can get the money returned if he downloads ANYDESK app and share the UPI ID through which the victim sent money to Swiggy. Panchal believed the caller and shared the UPI ID via ANYDESK. The fraudster withdrew Rs 27951 from the bank of Baroda account of the victim in various transactions.

Manipal police are investigating further.
