Med-Intro 2023’ – Orientation, white coat ceremony for new MBBS batch held at KMC, Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Sep 3: Med-Intro 2023, an orientation programme and white coat-donning ceremony for the new batch of MBBS students of Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru, was held on Friday, September 1 at the Dr TMA Pai International Convention Centre. The chief guest was Dr Dilip G Naik, pro vice chancellor, Mangaluru Campus, MAHE, Manipal. 
 


 
Dr B Unnikrishnan, dean of KMC, Mangaluru, gave the welcome address. The dean gave an overview of the college and emphasized on the quality of the education and opportunities provided in the institution.
 
The chief guest then released the information booklet for the new batch. The pro-vice chancellor spoke in his address about the eminence of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education and the excellent teaching and learning facilities at the Mangaluru campus. Guest alumnus, Dr Pankaj Kumar, spoke about how KMC Mangalore shaped his career as well as helped in his development as a human being. 
 
Dr Poornima Manjrekar, professor of Biochemistry at KMC Mangaluru, gave the vote of thanks. The students were then oriented to academics, student affairs, and avenues for research by associate deans Dr Shrikala Baliga, Dr B Suresh Kumar Shetty, and Dr Pramod Kumar. Indu Toby, chairperson of student affairs and assistant professor, department of clinical psychology, Manipal College of Health Professions, Manipal, spoke about student support and ways to manage stress in student life. The respective administrative heads of the hostel, finance, and library sections addressed the students regarding the facilities offered in the college. The programme ended with a question-and-answer session where the dean, associate deans, and heads of the departments interacted with the parents. 
 
The foundation course, as mandated by the National Medical Commission, will begin for the fresh batch of students.
