Udupi, Sep 3: “Only awakened citizen can save Our Nation and constitution. Constitution begins with, ‘We the people of India-here we all inclusive’-all people of different religion, language, caste.  The root cause of today’s problem is the silence of the good people. If there is injustice anywhere we have to raise our voice, otherwise no one will be there when injustice is done to us”, said Dr Jayaprakash Shetty, professor Tenkanidiyur Government First grade college .

He was speaking on Sunday, September 3 at Anugraha Pastoral centre at the awakened Laity Citizen convention organized by Laity Commission of Udupi Diocese and Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh.  Santhosh Carnelio, president of Catholic Sabha, Udupi Pradesh presided.



Earlier Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo inaugurated the convention and called upon the Catholc Sabha and Laity Commission to develop second line leadership in the organization, get ready for the coming elections, and to try to reach Government facilities to the people.  Melwin D’Souza, advocate, gave the information on government facilities.

Msng  Ferdinad Gonsalves briefed about laity commission objectives. Fr Vincent Crasta,  secretary, CESU and director of pastoral centre asked Sabha to try to enroll teachers and graduates for the MLC election so that we can get good people who work for the betterment of education.
Dr Gerald Pinto and Walter Cyril Pinto helped to prepare action plan through group discussion. The suggestions will be placed in the executive committee meeting on September 10 and finalized.

Convener of the program, Mary D’Souza welcomed  the gathering. Secretary Olivia D’ Mello proposed a vote of thanks. Irene Menezes compered the program.
