Moodbidri, Sep 11: A momentous celebration of Teacher's Day took place at the Corpus Christi Church Hall, jointly organized by the Teacher's Association, Shikpa Ayog, and ICYM (Indian Catholic Youth Movement) on Sunday, September 10. The event was graced by the presence of Fr Onil D'Souza, who presided over the function, and Dr Cyprian Monterio, who held the esteemed position of chief guest.

The programme commenced with a soulful prayer song, led by ICYM, setting a serene atmosphere for the gathering. Rueben Serrao, the president of ICYM, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, creating an inviting ambiance. The introduction of the chief guest was eloquently done by Mark Mendonca, a dedicated teacher.

A highlight of the event was the felicitation of Dr Cyprian Monterio by Fr Onil D'Souza and other dignitaries present on the dais. Dr Monterio, in his enlightening speech, encouraged teachers to excel in their roles by nurturing professionalism in their students and serving as exemplary role models. He emphasized the importance of guiding young minds towards government jobs and instilling in them the resilience to face life's challenges. Additionally, he urged catechism teachers not only to impart religious teachings but also to help children plan for their futures, focusing on the three Ps: plan, prepare, and practice.

In a heartfelt gesture, all the teachers in the audience were honored with roses and mementos as a token of appreciation for their dedicated service. Fr Onil D'Souza, in his address, emphasized the role of teachers in harnessing government resources to help students achieve success.

To infuse some joy into the proceedings, Vijoy Cardoza organized games that entertained the teachers, creating a light-hearted atmosphere. Clara D'Costa expressed gratitude to everyone involved, acknowledging the collective effort that made the event a success. The program was smoothly conducted by Clarita Fernandes, who skillfully compered the proceedings.

In essence, the Teacher's Day celebration at Corpus Christi Church Hall in 2023 was a heartwarming tribute to the educators who play a vital role in shaping the future, highlighting the importance of professionalism, mentorship, and perseverance in their noble profession.
