Mangaluru, Sep 13: Karnataka State Education forum demanded the state government to withdraw its decision to scrap the New Education Policy (NEP) and implement the policy based on the interest of the students.

The forum convenor, Prof Rajashekar Hebbar said that an interactive session will be held on September 14 against the 'anti-student decision' of the state government and demand the state government to withdraw its decision to scrap the NEP.

With the experts' advice, the central government had come up with the NEP and Karnataka was the first state to implement the same. But now the state government has decided to scrap this policy, as this policy is politically motivated. However the ground realities will be known only when it is brought into practice, he added.

The government should not mix politics in education. They must consider the interest of the students and their parents before implementing the policy. If there are any such issues, then the government must try to fix it and later implement the policy. The state government has also announced that in the coming days, the state will come up with its own policy without any expert advice. But before that, the government must answer why it has decided to scrap the NEP, said Ramesh K, another conveyor.

The interactive session will be held in the presence of former CM Basavaraj Bommai, former minister C N Ashwath Narayan, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, VTU Belagavi retired vice chancellor Prof Karisiddappa and other academicians.
