Puttur, Sep 23: The police reprimanded a youth who kept liquor bottle as prize for the lucky coupon contest for Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

A youth, resident of Halegate of Sullia taluk made some lucky coupons for Ganesha Chaturthi festival with the intentions of making money and priced the ticket at Rs 100. He sold the tickets to many in the town, especially youth.

The youth kept full bottle of Black & White liquor as first prize and one carton of beer as second prize. The public raised objection for this kind of lucky coupon. It went viral on social media also.

Pro-Hindu people also objected the lucky coupon in which liquor was kept as prize in the name of Ganesha Chaturthi festival. A complaint was filed in police station.

Police tracked the youth and took him to police station in Sullia and reprimanded him for his act. It is said that the youth tendered apology and also promised not to repeat the act. It is learnt that police took an undertaking from the youth in this regard.

    As per the law...Consumption of alcohol and smoking is injurious to health.. do not understand the logic, then why the govt. is selling the same .. is it to make revenue at the cost of humans health and make them to addict..?

    Find its not right to offer a liquor as a prize .Instead they can make some money or some sweets ,or hundred coconuts etc .Liquor is more attracting men ,.Later with it also make big problem.

    it is not right to do coupons...but okay to have thotte in the name of festival..almost all the people who roam around painting their faces to make some quick bucks are smelling of thotte early in the morning.

    Public act like this especially on the auspicious occasion is condemnable.... Police did the right thing... In churches we have events like hooking the beer bottle and that is one of the many other activities... Also there is no ticket printed or anything of that sort... Finally there will be a Kombo (rooster) draw...
