Puttur, Sep 23: The police reprimanded a youth who kept liquor bottle as prize for the lucky coupon contest for Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
A youth, resident of Halegate of Sullia taluk made some lucky coupons for Ganesha Chaturthi festival with the intentions of making money and priced the ticket at Rs 100. He sold the tickets to many in the town, especially youth.
The youth kept full bottle of Black & White liquor as first prize and one carton of beer as second prize. The public raised objection for this kind of lucky coupon. It went viral on social media also.
Pro-Hindu people also objected the lucky coupon in which liquor was kept as prize in the name of Ganesha Chaturthi festival. A complaint was filed in police station.
Police tracked the youth and took him to police station in Sullia and reprimanded him for his act. It is said that the youth tendered apology and also promised not to repeat the act. It is learnt that police took an undertaking from the youth in this regard.
