Bantwal, Sep 24: A truck fell into roadside drain at Dasakodi after the driver lost control of the vehicle in the morning of Sunday, September 25 at Dasakodi.

Arif and Riyaz, driver and cleaner of the truck respectively, escaped with minor injuries.

The truck was carrying coal from Bengaluru to Mangaluru. It is said that the accident occurred at around 4.30 am. Locals say that the driver must have felt drowsy as a result of which the truck veered into the ditch.

common in third world countries where safety of the vehicle as well as the driver is given least importance....remember a tragic happening many many years ago where a driver, who had worked for two days continuously was asked to school children for excusion...barely one hour later he hit the bus against tree and nearly 23 children died...i think happened around Mandya or Mysuru....this is the state of safety in our country...
