Kasargod, Aug 18: Relating to the incident in which acid was thrown at a sleeping couple, causing serious injuries to both, resulting in subsequent death of the woman concerned, the policemen have arrested the accused. She has been identified as Misriya, a native of Eriya Barkod, first wife of Abdul Rahman from Hidayathnagar in the town.

Misriya faces the charge of throwing acid on her husband, Abdul Rahman, and his second wife, Nafisat Misriya (27), when they were sleeping. Both Rahman and Nafisat had been admitted into a private hospital in Mangalore, and Nafisat had succumbed to her injuries on Monday August 15. Abdul Rahman is recovering.  It is gathered that since her husband’s second marriage, Misriya had repeatedly been quarrelling with Rahman and his second wife.

The Kasargod policemen had tried to nab the culprit, but their efforts had gone futile. After gathering information that Misriya had been hiding in Goa, the policemen went there and arrested her. A team led by Kumble circle inspector of police, U Preman, interrogated her before handing her over to Manjeshwar police station for further action.
