Udupi: Bike Accident - Rider Dies, Pillion Rider Serious

Udupi, Aug 18: One person was killed and another seriously injured when their motobike fell into the roadside drain at Marpalli Nandagokula of Korangrapady village here at around 9.30 pm on Tuesday August 16.

The deceased , who was the bike rider, has been identified as Ravi Nayak (34), son of Krishna Nayak, residing near Lord Mahalingeshwara Temple in Marpalli. He was unmarried. Harish (38), the pillion rider and son of Madhava Poojary,  is being treated for serious injuries  at  the Manipal Hospital.

It is learnt that both of them were working for the fisheries petrol bunk at Malpe port. While returning home, the rider presumably lost control  of his bike and fell into the drain. Ravi Nayak  succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

A report in this connection was filed in the town police station here.
